The Baby Shower
I didn’t plan for last Saturday to go the way it did.
I set up near the pavilion like usual, got everything ready, and pretty quickly realized there was a baby shower happening maybe thirty feet away. A full one – decorations, people dressed up, the whole thing.
My first thought was honestly just hoping I wasn’t in the way.
But then people started wandering over. And they were so genuinely happy to be there, happy to be celebrating something, happy to have a cold drink handed to them by a guy with a yellow trailer they’d never seen before. That particular combination of a good day and good company made everything land a little softer than usual.
I had a lot of quick conversations that afternoon. People asking what Peace Machine is, where to find us, whether we do events. The usual questions, but with a warmth behind them that felt different. When someone’s already in a celebratory mood, they bring that energy to everything around them.
