What am I doing?

A lot of people start a business because they worked somewhere, saw everything wrong with how it was being run, and thought "I could do this better."
That’s not really why I started Peace Machine.

Honestly, it's closer to why someone starts a band. Not because music is broken and needs fixing, but because you’ve heard so many songs that moved you, and at some point you just have to make something too. You want to be part of the conversation. You want to see if you can make something that makes someone feel the way those songs made you feel.

That’s what happened with coffee. I’ve been around so many roasters, small cafés, people doing genuinely beautiful work and I kept thinking, I want to be part of this. Not because I hate something, but because I love it. Just to contribute. To be a leaf in the stream.

There’s something in the specialty coffee world that I think is pretty rare in most industries: a lot of people doing it seem to actually love it. Like, love the craft, love the community, love the ritual of it. And they share that love openly. That’s what I kept seeing. That’s what made me want to try.

So Peace Machine isn’t a response to something bad. It’s a response to something good. A lot of somethings, honestly. Too many to name.
I just want to add one more.
